To Students and Parents:
Entrepreneurship is a project-based college preparatory course where students analyze and develop a small business. Students learn the principles of entrepreneurship and how the market economy and ownership leads to wealth creation. Students learn not only the skills necessary to become entrepreneurs but also the attitudes, characteristic, and techniques in successful entrepreneurs that they will need to succeed.
Students will learn to build analytical skills through solving complex problems and making sound decisions in order to produce a viable business. Through the study of entrepreneurship, students will learn the importance of the role of entrepreneurship in the market economy; opportunity recognition; communicate in business; ethical business behavior; social responsibility; competitive advantage and sustainability; market research and cost/benefit analysis; advertise and market products; business financials, including pricing, operating costs, and projections. As students create their business plan, they will integrate academic knowledge to their own ventures, thus putting theory into practice.
Prerequisites:
Intro to business. Algebra or higher level mathematics course (Recommended) English I or other introductory English course (Recommended)
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY: Any student involved in dishonesty on any work will be subject to one, some, or all of the following: an automatic zero on the work; suspension from class; a referral to the Administration; and/or a conference between an administrator, the parents, and the teacher.
* Overall - No student should interfere with the learning of another student.
GRADING SYSTEM: Will be determined as follows:
ASSIGNMENTS/QUIZZES/TESTS 70%
FINAL EXAM 10%
WRITTEN PROJECT 10%
Business project 10%
Scale: 90- 100% = A
80 - 89% = B
70 - 79% = C
60 - 69% = D
59% or below is an F
